Springtime at St Tewdric's House
Some wedding mornings just feel right from the moment you walk in. Elenya and Rhys’ day at St Tewdrics House had that calm, happy atmosphere straight away, soft light through the big windows, everyone in good spirits, and the sense that it was going to be a brilliant day from start to finish. St Tewdrics is always a stunning place to photograph, but in early May it really comes alive. The huge oak tree on the front lawn was in full leaf, bluebells dotted around the grounds and the house itself had that warm golden look it gets when the sun hits it.
The Flowers...Honestly, Just Incredible
The flowers deserve their own moment because they were unreal. The whole staircase at St Tewdrics was bursting with colour. Bright peaches, soft pinks, lilacs, blues, and those bold pops that instantly lift the whole place. Their style is really abundant and flower-heavy, and it suited Elenya and Rhys perfectly.
Every arrangement by Bloom Street Florals felt full, modern, and full of life.
Outdoor Ceremony Overlooking the Severn Bridge
Elenya’s walk into the courtyard set the tone. They locked eyes straight away and never stopped smiling. Their reactions, along with the warmth from their guests, made the moment feel genuine and effortless to capture.
The Party Got Started..EARLY!
The cheeky surprise of singing waiters was the first sign that this was going to be a humdinger of a party. People on chairs, tables belting out classics at 4pm is what it is all about!
Couple Portraits
Having such.a beautiful backdrop as St Tewdric's house, there is no need to go very far for couple photos which means more time for the couple with family and friends and Rhys and Elenya’s portraits were exactly I feel they should be. My role here is to guide couples and it is never about stiff posing with my approach. It is about giving the couple a bit of space to breathe, walk, chat, and forget they are being photographed. They settled into that rhythm straight away. Most of the photos came from small movements and natural reactions rather than anything staged. The grounds around the house helped keep everything relaxed. Their easy smiles and the way they looked at each other did the rest.
Party Continues into the Evening
The evening picked up exactly where the singing waiters left off, full of that playful, slightly wild energy everyone loves at a wedding. Ffwrnes Pizza provided the much needed fuel for the evening and after a quick and very classy dress change, the couple headed into their first dance while the Will Blake Band eased into their set. I love this part of the day and I aim to join in where I can to document the night and blend in. As the dance floor filled, the moves got looser, and the laughter got louder. It all felt easy, warm, and a bit chaotic in the best way.
Polaroids sneak peak to finish
As I said my goodbyes at the end of an incredible day, I handed Rhys and Elenya their Polaroids. It’s always the first moment the couple see a photo of themselves on the day, and they’ve usually forgotten they were getting them, so it lands as a lovely little surprise. A simple printed snapshot, but one they were genuinely thrilled with.
