Carmarthenshire Wedding and Engagement Photography
I have always loved Llyn Llech Owain. Not only is it a beautiful location filled full of nature but it also has a quality that can make it feel quite different to other parks. The deep black pools of the surrounding peat bogs give it an almost eery feel but one that would make the perfect setting for a TV drama or movie. I have always wanted to do an engagement here so when Lianne suggested it, I couldn't wait.
We took a gentle stroll around the park, getting to know each other and talking about their plans for their upcoming wedding at The Olde Barns at Pen-Y-Graig near Carmarthen. The landscape itself lends itself so well to a moody approach and with the overhanging mist we decided to embrace it!
Do the drunk walk..
It's always my aim with engagement shoots to keep it informal and not overly posed. I find that finding impromptu opportunities for shots works best (combined with the odd prompt). One prompt that always helps relieve a bit of nervousness, is when I ask couples to do the 'drunk walk'. It's surprising how many people become absolute pros in front of the camera after this! I want to of course to get some lovely imagery from the shoot but helping relieve some of the unknown around the photography aspect ahead of the their wedding is always a major plus. Lianne and Dean embraced this and we got some really stunning photos at this gem of a location.
The Water Tower
When we got to the water tower at Llyn Llech Owain, we used this as an opportunity to stop, enjoy view and get some more shots.
Near the end of the walk there's a big black barn that I'd walked past a hundred times, knew it would be a great spot for photographs. The rustic feel of it made for a clean background so we spent a final few minutes there before getting back to the car and saying our goodbyes ahead of the wedding at Penygraig Barn.
